A collection of nine small black and white photographs on a single sheet belonging to Fred Hill and showing life in Canterbury and his businesses, Douglas Alexander, and the Canterbury Craft Centre from 1949 to around 1953. Photos of Doug at work are on the bottom row, centre and far right.
The building which housed the Craft Centre (first photo) is of interest. According to Canterbury Historical Society Burgate House was the first building to be completed in the city after the war, constructed on the site of a bomb crater, with funds from the people of Canada and opened in 1953 It is now a gift shop. - Date
