The organizing committee for the 25th IVTO Competition (Silver Anniversary) decided to mark the unique occasion by minting all medals (First, Second, and Third Place) in a single material: sterling silver. The obverse of the medal features a traditional Irish Tara Brooch together with the Globe & Cogwheel icon.
On the reverse, several lines of engraved text appear, centred:
“1979 ÉIRE
Third Place
Industrial Wiring
R. C. O’BRIEN”
Around the upper edge, following the curve of the medal, there is an inscription in Irish:
“An 25ú Comórtas Printíseach Idirnáisiúnta”
(“25th International Apprenticeship Competition”)
Along the lower edge, also following the curve, it reads:
“MADRID I–CORCAIGH XXV”
Below the central text, there is the IVTO symbol - Date
