- Title
- 24th Youth Skill Olympics, Busan 1978. Carved bookend
- Description
-
A hand carved book end from the 1978 competition in Busan, Korea.
The Koreans are believed to have held a wood carving demonstration in an unsuccessful attempt to revive the skill which had been part of the early competitions.
On one panel is carved the competition logo and the opposite panel a man in traditional dress playing an instrument which appears to be a flute. The bookend was a finished test piece given as a gift to Michael Casserly of Ireland by the chief expert. - Date
