He got the first position in Cabinetmaking On Lluís Fradera’s words: “The picture of the piece of furniture... that’s the one I made for the national competition, in Madrid’s national championship, that was the assignment they gave us there.”

    A black and white photograph of Fernando Mayer Garea who was awarded first place trophy in the silversmith category at the 1957 competition in Madrid where he made a chalice. He was a 15-year-old student at the time. In the photograph he is proudly holding his trophy. The young man would go on to compete in the Duisburg competition in Germany in 1961, and enjoy a successful career in his craft.
