14th International Apprentice Competition, Glasgow 1965
Documents about the 1965 competition in Glasgow, Scotland. A typed summary gives a basic overview of dates, lists the 13 countries expected to take part, skill categories and the organizer The City of London Guilds and Institute. Glasgow was selected because of the “availability of suitable technical accommodation for the tests and of the hotel and hostel accommodation for the competitors.” Tools and equipment were provided by British manufacturers. Also included is a signed letter on Buckingham Palace letterhead from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (b. 1921 - d. 2021) expressing his support as the event’s patron and noting that preparations were “well advanced.” The Prince was an advocate of vocational education. -
