Third place medal, 24th International Vocational Training Competition, Cork 1979 The organizing committee for the 25th IVTO Competition (Silver Anniversary) decided to mark the unique occasion by minting all medals (First, Second, and Third Place) in a single material: sterling silver. The obverse of the medal features a traditional Irish Tara Brooch together with the Globe & Cogwheel icon. On the reverse, several lines of engraved text appear, centred: “1979 ÉIRE Third Place Industrial Wiring R. C. O’BRIEN” Around the upper edge, following the curve of the medal, there is an inscription in Irish: “An 25ú Comórtas Printíseach Idirnáisiúnta” (“25th International Apprenticeship Competition”) Along the lower edge, also following the curve, it reads: “MADRID I–CORCAIGH XXV” Below the central text, there is the IVTO symbol -
