The promotional rosette was produced by the National Council for Vocational Qualifications (NCVQ), as a sponsor, for the International Youth Skill Olympics in Birmingham in 1989. The National Council for Vocational Qualications was working with industry to establish qualications based on national occupational standards which they produced.

A blank medal made for the 1989 competition. This is likely a sample of one Gold medal awarded to a winner. Attached to the ribbon is a lapel pin, with the initials MEB, the logo of the Midlands Electricity, an event sponsor and likely a souvenir giveaway.

29th International Vocational Training Competition, Sydney 1988. Commemorative plaque iven to Alan Grasset, made by a volunteer. The volunteer was a TAFE (Technical and Further Education) teacher, who made the plaque on his own volition and gave it out to various people who worked on the Sydney competition. This was not an official plaque, but, according to Alan Grasset it was “a nice act by a dedicated person which exemplifies the spirit of the event”.
